Zinc die cast figurine of a woman designed to hold a nautilus shell, carved and polished as an iridescent lamp shade. Surface was heavily and deeply pitted; color and coatings all but gone. Decision was taken not to weaken the structure nor risk major breaches with over aggressive polishing. Some evidence of surface distress remains.
Bronze plating followed surfacing, then chemical darkening and patina treatments. Nautilus shell was cleaned and buffed, and reattached to electrified figure.
